Our generously portioned Essential Farm Box contains 12-15 types of in-season fruit and vegetables (approx. 18-24 individual daily servings recommended by USDA), fresh herbs, your choice of a protein and a loaf of fresh bread from a local bakery.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are the foundation of a healthy diet. We believe that locally sourced, U.S. grown in-season fruit and vegetables are the most nutritious and flavorful. A healthy diet also includes a variety of proteins. That's why we picked the freshest seasonal produce for our Essential Farm Box.
A healthy diet also includes a variety of proteins. Choose from freshly cut steaks, gourmet chicken, juicy pork chops or extra firm tofu. Our meat comes from a local purveyor of quality meats, Anmar - a trusted supplier to many Chicago's steakhouses. Processing and packaging is done at Anmar's USDA inspected facility. Our seafood comes from Supreme Lobster - a leading regional and national seafood distributor, known for the best quality fresh fish, seafood, and lobsters.
Products and their quantities may vary each week (plus we try to add extras if we have excess produce). Currently, here is what may be included in February*:
Vegetables: Asparagus (1/2 lb), Avocado (one), Beans (1/2 lb), Beets (1 bunch), Broccoli (1-2 stalks), Brussels Sprouts (1/2 lb), Cabbage (one), Carrots (one bunch), Cauliflower (one), Celery (one), Corn (four), Cucumbers (1 lb), Eggplant (one), Garlic (one), Ginger (1/2 lb), Leeks (1/2 lb), Mushrooms (1/2 lb), Onions (one), Okra (1/2 lb), Parsnip (1/2 lb or one bunch), Peas (1/2 lb), Peppers (two), Potatoes (2 lb), Radishes (1/2 lb or one bunch), Rice (1/2 lb), Rutabaga (1/2 lb or one bunch), Scallions (one bunch), Seasonal Greens (3.5 oz or 1 head), Squash (1 lb or 1 pc), Tomatoes (1 lb), Turmeric (1/2 lb), Turnips (1/2 lb or one bunch), Zucchini (1 lb).
Fresh herbs: Basil, Chives, Cilantro, Dill, Mint, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage or Thyme.
Fruit: Apples, Berries, Cherries, Grapefruit, Grapes, Lemons, Limes, Oranges, Persimmon, Pomegranate, Mandarins, Peaches, Pears, Plums.
Your choice of protein: 2 x 8 oz Chicken Breasts, 2 x 12 oz Pork Chops, 2 x 10 oz Rib Eye Steaks, 2 x 6 oz Salmon Fillets (Skin On) or 2 x 14 oz Extra Firm Tofu.
