Carb Conscious Farm Box
Our Carb Conscious Farm Box is designed to reduce the amount of simple carbohydrates eaten (e.g. bread, potato, etc.) and increase consumption of complex carbohydrates, like those found in fiber rich fruits and vegetables. Complex carbohydrates digest more slowly helping you feel full for longer, and can actually help manage blood sugar levels and cholesterol.
So enjoy carbs in your meals - just become more conscious of the quality of them and how they impact your health and weight loss.
The Carb Conscious Farm Box contains 10-12 types of in-season fruit and vegetables (approx. 16-18 individual daily servings recommended by USDA), fresh herbs, and an optional choice of protein, i.e. freshly cut steaks, gourmet chicken, juicy pork chops or extra firm tofu. Fresh fruit and vegetables are the foundation of a healthy diet. We believe that locally sourced, U.S. grown in-season fruit and vegetables are the most nutritious and flavorful. That's why we picked the freshest seasonal produce for our Carb Conscious Farm Box.
Our meat comes from a local purveyor of quality meats, Anmar - a trusted supplier to many Chicago's steakhouses. Processing and packaging is done at Anmar's USDA inspected facility.
Products and their quantities may vary each week (plus we try to add extras if we have excess produce). Currently, here is what may be included in September*:
Vegetables: Broccoli (one bunch ≈ 3 cups), Brussel Sprouts (1 lb ≈ 4 cups), Carrots (one bunch ≈ 3 cups), Cauliflower (one bunch ≈ 4 cups), Celery (one bunch ≈ 4 cups), Corn (3 ears), Cucumbers (1 lb ≈ 4 cups), Eggplant (one ≈ 5 cups), Garlic (one head ≈ 10-12 tsp), Green Beans (1/2 lb ≈ 2 cups), Portobello or Cremini Mushrooms (8 oz ≈ 3 cups), Pea Pods (1/2 lb ≈ 2 cups), Peppers (1/2 lb ≈ 2 cups), Sweet Potatoes (2 lbs ≈ 6 cups), Radishes (one bunch ≈ 1 cup), Seasonal greens (arugula, lettuce, kale, spinach or Swiss chard ≈ 6-8 cups), Scallions (one bunch), Cherry, Heirloom or Ripe Vine Tomatoes (1 lb ≈ 2 cups), Yellow Zucchini Squash (1 lb ≈ 2 cups).
Fresh herbs: Dill, basil, parsley, rosemary, sage or cilantro.
Fruit: Apples (four), Blueberries (1 US Dry Pint), Pears (four), or Strawberries (1 lb).
Your choice of protein: 2 x 8 oz Chicken Breasts, 2 x 12 oz Pork Chops, 2 x 10 oz Rib Eye Steaks or 2 x 14 oz Extra Firm Tofu.
Our contactless deliveries take place weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Free delivery within 30 miles from our Wrigleyville location for purchases over $49. Free local pickup is available.
